At COP28 UAE, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference held at Expo City Dubai, Giorgio participated as part of the KlimaDAO delegation. In his capacity as President of KCG (ADGM) and as a member of the Foundation Board of The Klima Stiftung, he engaged directly with corporate leaders, carbon project developers, and public-sector representatives on the role of blockchain-native infrastructure in the next phase of the voluntary carbon market.
The conversations centred on the practical integration of tokenized credits with traditional registries, the emerging Article 6 framework, and the institutional pathways required for the Gulf to become a credible hub for regulated environmental commodity markets. COP28 delivered the first global stocktake under the Paris Agreement and the UAE Consensus, setting the backdrop for the work that followed at ADIPEC and through the KCG and Carbonmark platforms.
