Real World Assets on-chain: bridging physical and digital markets

DAO Tokyo 2024 Real World Assets panel on stage at Kanda Myojin Shrine, with the DAO TOKYO screen behind and a packed audience

DAO Tokyo 2024, organized by Fracton Ventures, gathered Web3 leaders at the Kanda Myojin Shrine in Tokyo for two days of conversation about decentralized organizations, tokenization, and Japan's evolving digital asset policy. Giorgio joined the panel on Real World Assets together with Kaya Kanamori (Sony Bank), Bernardo Quintao (Backed), and moderator Gerrit (Q Protocol).

The discussion focused on one of the harder unresolved problems in Web3: how to move value credibly between on-chain representations and the physical world. Giorgio argued that tokenization alone is not the product. What makes an RWA system function is the off-ramp into real jurisdictions, enforceable contracts, custody arrangements that survive bankruptcy events, and regulated entry points that allow institutional capital to participate without stepping outside its compliance perimeter. Carbon credits served as a recurring worked example throughout the panel.

On the panel

  • Kaya Kanamori - Sony Bank
  • Bernardo Quintao - Backed
  • Giorgio Alessandro Donà-Danioni - KCG (ADGM)
